It’s downright festive these days here at BearCom, and not just because of the holidays. We’re celebrating another incredible year, and for that, we want to thank you, our customers. You make it all possible!
2011 marked BearCom’s 30th anniversary, and it’s hard not to be amazed at the growth of the company that Jerry Denham and Alyxzander Bear started back in 1981. That two-man shop that rented two-way radios for events is now a network of 26 branch locations nationwide, with more than 30,000 customers!
BearCom has enjoyed a long relationship with Motorola, and today, we’re the world’s largest dealer of Motorola two-way radios. BearCom has twice won Motorola’s Pinnacle of Customer Excellence award, two significant milestones for our company. Motorola had a milestone year of its own in 2011, as it became two companies: Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. The latter hit the ground running with a highly successful global advertising campaign. That success was recognized by BtoB Magazine, which named Motorola Solutions’ CMO, Eduardo Conrado, one of its Best Marketers of 2011. Along the way, Motorola Solutions marked another milestone with the shipping of the one millionth MOTOTRBO two-way radio.
Also this year, with the help of our partner Vertex Standard, we launched the new BearCom BC95 two-way radio. As the latest addition to our family of four BearCom-branded radios, the value-priced BC95 is ideal for construction, hospitality, education, and various other industries.
2011 has been an important year for yet another significant initiative for BearCom—helping our customers deal with the FCC’s narrowbanding mandate. We worked with Motorola and the Enterprise Wireless Alliance to launch Narrowbanding.com, hosted a series of webinars about narrowbanding, published a narrowbanding guide, and even produced a video about narrowbanding, starring—you guessed it—yours truly! I’ve been lucky to headline two other “Adventures of Wireless Woman” videos in 2011 as well, which are now available on our new YouTube channel, BearComTV.
And finally, this year, BearCom focused like never before on keeping in touch online. We launched this blog, the “BearCom Bulletin,” and we spread news through various social media channels. It’s hard to believe that almost 5,000 people are now following me on Twitter and that “Wireless Wednesday,” created by BearCom, has become a weekly fixture on social media.
It all adds up to a very busy, successful year, and one we couldn’t have enjoyed without our employees, our partners, and most importantly, you—our customers. Thank you all! And best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2012!
